چکیده

A new class of risk measures called cash sub-additive risk measures is introduced to assess the risk of future financial, nonfinancial and insurance positions. The debated cash additive axiom is relaxed into the cash sub-additive axiom to preserve the original difference between the numéraire of the current reserve amounts and future positions. Consequently, cash subadditive risk measures can model stochastic and/or ambiguous interest rates or defaultable contingent claims. Practical examples are presented and in such contexts cash additive risk measures cannot be used. Several representations of the cash sub-additive risk measures are provided. The new risk measures are characterized by penalty functions defined on a set of sub-linear probability measures and can be represented using penalty functions associated with cash additive risk measures defined on some extended spaces. The issue of the optimal risk transfer is studied in the new framework using inf-convolution techniques. Examples of dynamic cash sub-additive risk measures are provided via BSDEs where the generator can locally depend on the level of the cash sub-additive risk measure.

Risk assessment for uncertain cash flows: model ambiguity, discounting ambiguity, and the role of bubbles

We study the risk assessment of uncertain cash flows in terms of dynamic convex risk measures for processes as introduced in Cheridito, Delbaen, and Kupper [10]. These risk measures take into account not only the amounts but also the timing of a cash flow. We discuss their robust representation in terms of suitably penalized probability measures on the optional σ-field. This yields an explicit ...

Comparing Relative and Additive Contents of Return with Cash Recovery Rate

One of the goals of financial reporting is to provide the useful information in order to facilitate the decision making. Accounting information system is of high importance for the users to make specific decisions. The information should be analyzed to present the valuable information to the investors so that in this paper, the relative content and return additive with cash recovery have been a...

Polynomial algorithms for pricing path dependent interest rate instruments

In this paper we study algorithms for pricing of interest rate instruments using a lattice interest model. The price is defined as expected discounted cash flow. If the cash-flows generated by the instrument depend on the full or partial history of the interest rates (path dependent contracts), then the pricing algorithms are typically of exponential complexity. We show that for some models, in...

Interest Rate Risk Management: Developments in Interest Rate Term Structure Modeling for Risk Management and Valuation of Interest-rate-dependent Cash Flows

This paper surveys the main concepts and techniques of recent developments in the modeling of the term structure of interest rates that are used in the risk management and valuation of interest-rate-dependent cash flows. These developments extend the concepts of immunization and matching to a stochastic interest rate environment. Such cash flows include the cash flows on assets such as bonds an...

Excess invariance and shortfall risk measures

This paper introduces an axiom of excess invariance for risk measures, meaning insensitivity to the amount by which a portfolio’s value exceeds a benchmark. The paper also introduces the class of shortfall risk measures, which are excess-invariant as well as normalized, non-negative, and monotone non-increasing. Shortfall risk measures are suitable for regulatory or risk management applications...
